David Elsworth's Swiss Spirit justified 7-4 favouritism in the Bathwick Tyres Carnarvon Stakes at Newbury.
The three-year-old had been narrowly beaten by the talented Valbchek on his Newmarket reappearance and travelled strongly in the hands of Derby-winning jockey Mickael Barzalona.
Both Lethal Force and Samminder threw down challenges passing the furlong marker, but Swiss Spirit found plenty to wrest the spoils by a neck and the same.
Trevor Harris of winning owners Lordship Stud said: "The jockey said he idled a bit when he hit the front and thought he'd done enough, so he is probably value for a little further than the winning margin.
"The jockey also said that he might be a better horse over seven furlongs, which bring the Jersey Stakes at Royal Ascot into play as a possibility.
"He is still maturing and I think good ground is ideal for him."
