Verdict

Blades Lad looked no more than moderate in his first season and may have to wait for a handicap to get off the mark. FORTIETH AND FIFTH caught the eye in no uncertain terms on his debut at Kempton in December when staying on strongly despite running green. That experience will have done him good and he can take care of a couple of well-connected newcomers. The Galileo colt Stormbound is out of an unraced daughter of Giant's Causeway while Sir Henry Cecil's Medicean filly Ukrainian Princess is out of a mare from the family of Balanchine.
