Verdict

Imperial Monarch may lack the experience of some of the others but impressed on debut at the Curragh. He's bred in the purple and entered in all the big middle-distance races this summer but could just find STIPULATE too strong on his reappearance. Sir Henry Cecil's colt quickly put daylight between himself and his rivals in the Fielden Stakes at Newmarket 10 days ago and has clearly strengthened up over the winter. He'll be aimed at the Dante if following up here. Rougemont battled on bravely to hold off Mickdaam in a valuable sales race at HQ earlier this month and should give another good account but Newcastle maiden winner Thought Worthy looks to have a bit to find.
