Verdict

FORT BASTION chased home 1000 Guineas favourite Maybe in the Chesham Stakes at Royal Ascot last June and all of his subsequent runs came in pattern company. He didn't manage to win but was runner-up in the Acomb Stakes at York in August and is impossible to oppose in this maiden. Captain Kendall was second on his reappearance at Bath but beaten a long way and more interesting are newcomers Oceana Dreamer and Zhiggy's Stardust. Choice Words looks the pick of the older horses and also has place claims.
