Verdict

Laffan trounced Famous Poet at Doncaster last month but the runner-up enjoys a 10lb turnaround in the weights and his stable is starting to emerge from the doldrums. Fire Ship is a model of consistency and only went down by a short-head on his reappearance at Windsor while Sholaan is progressive and should be capable of building on his comfortable victory in a Wolverhampton maiden. Dutch Old Master has a lot more to do than when winning on debut at Lingfield, however, while Van Ellis and Prince Alzain were both a little disappointing last time. MOON PEARL was highly tried after winning on debut at Ascot last year and didn't enjoy the soft ground on his reappearance at Ascot, though still finished ahead of Crown Dependency. Ralph Beckett's gelding will have come on for the run and the handicapper has given him a chance today in first-time blinkers.
