Verdict

Things didn't work out for Brown Pete in a typically messy Brighton contest last time but he was still only beaten three lengths, finishing fifth of seven. He'd been in fair form previously but there must be a doubt about his effectiveness over this longer trip on soft ground. RIGID is put forward as a value option with Tony Carroll continuing to tick along nicely under both codes. His gelding is not the most consistent around but does stay the trip and will handle conditions having won on the soft over hurdles. Celtic Charlie is also unproven on the ground but has claims if handling it whilst Shirataki has assured stamina and didn't go too badly at Kempton last time.
