Verdict

This looks quite competitive for the time of year as six of these won last-time out. Sansili and Royal Riviera probably have a bit to do under penalties, while Pilgrims Lane and Wellforth are better known as chasers. Azulada Bay was raised 13lb after an easy win at Fontwell and is taking on better opposition here so we'll take a gamble on MARTIAL LAW. He only won a maiden hurdle at Worcester earlier this month but the step up in trip here will suit and he was unlucky loser at the track earlier. Malin Bay was only beaten a head when chasing a hat-trick at Perth but is high enough in the weights now, as are Scotsbrook Cloud and Hills Of Aran.

Malin Bay (IRE) 9-4fav (11-13) With leader, mistake 3 out,, led before 2 out, ridden and headed last, kept on and every chance flat, just held near finish, 2nd of 8, hd behind Samstown (10-13) at Perth 3m nh nov hdl (4) gs in May.

Pilgrims Lane (IRE) 16-1 (11-8) Settled in rear but in touch, headway to chase leaders 2 out, soon hard ridden, led before last, ran on well, won at Stratford 2m 5f hcp chs 0-145 (2) gd beating Nataani (10-13) by 8l, 7 ran.

Azulada Bay (IRE) 4-1 (11-7) Made most, driven clear before 2 out, stayed on well, won at Fontwell 2m 6f hcp hdl 0-115 (4) gs beating Milans Well (10-10) by 14l, 9 ran.

Sansili 5-1 (10-3) Pressed leader, led after 3 out, ridden and hard pressed between last 2, stayed on under presure flat, just held on, won at Southwell 3m hcp hdl 0-135 (3) gd beating Andhaar (11-2) by shd, 9 ran.
