Verdict

CAY VERDE makes plenty of appeal. He beat Tuesday's Windsor Castle third Dylanbaru in a Listed race at the Curragh last month having already beaten the Windsor Castle winner Hototo over C&D before that and Mick Channon's speedy colt looks the one to beat on that form. The Hannon team are doubly represented and Mister Marc's second to Dawn Approach now looks better after the latter's success in the Coventry Stakes here on Tuesday. However, Richard Hughes has plumbed for Annunciation, an easy winner of a three-runner affair at Windsor last time having finished runner-up to winning debutant Reckless Abandon at Doncaster previously. Clive Cox' charge should be thereabouts but it was soft ground when Gale Force Ten scored over 6f at the Curragh recently and Haydock second Ian's Dream looks a speedier type. Ahern, sporting the same colours as the selection, is another to note after scoring at Musselburgh on his racecourse bow.

Cay Verde 5-2 (9-3) Always prominent, disputed lead halfway, led under 2f out, pushed out and kept on well final furlong, comfortably, won at Curragh 5f 2yo lst stk (1) gd in May beating Dylanbaru (9-3) by 3/4l, 8 ran.

Complicator 12-1 (9-3) Dwelt, behind, headway over 3f out, soon switched far side, ridden over 1f out, kept on inside final furlong, 4th of 9, 11l behind Royal Rascal (8-12) at York 6f 2yo mdn (3) sft.

Gale Force Ten 7-2 (9-5) Soon close up and disputed lead, under pressure in 2nd over 1f out, challenged inside final furlong, stayed on best to edge on closing stages, won at Curragh 6f 2yo mdn sft beating Leitir Mor (9-5) by 3/4l, 8 ran.

Ian's Dream (USA) 2-1fav (9-3) Held up in rear, ridden and headway over 1f out, went 2nd inside final furlong, kept on towards finish, 2nd of 7, 1/2l behind Cosmic Chatter (9-3) at Haydock 5f 2yo mdn (5) gf.

Jubilee Brig 4-7fav (9-3) Made all, ridden and asserted final furlong, ran on well, won at Kempton 5f 2yo mdn auc stks (6) pol beating Three Crowns (8-12) by 2 1/2l, 6 ran.

Mister Marc (IRE) 5-1 (9-3) Led, strongly pressed and headed over 1f out, no impression on winner inside final furlong, 2nd of 6, 2 3/4l behind Dawn Approach (9-3) at Naas 6f 2yo lst stk (1) gf.
