GUARANTEE had to wait an age to get a run at Newbury last time but got up by a neck once in the clear and looks good value for more than the official winning margin. There should be more to come on his handicap bow and he's taken to supplement the excellent strike rate of Willie Haggas with his three-year-olds at this track. Inthar never really threatened at Windsor last time and is stepped up in trip today while C&D winner Choisan found life tough in this grade at Haydock a fortnight ago. Yazdi has been well beaten in Group 3 company since a maiden win at Thirsk and first-time headgear is applied as he drops in class and the unexposed Toptempo makes more appeal than the out of sorts Maastricht.
Yazdi (IRE) 8-1 (9-0) Soon tracking leader, ridden and lost 2nd 3f out, weakened 2f out, beaten when hung badly left over 1f out, last of 6, 12l behind Shantaram (9-0) at Newmarket 1m 5f 3yo Grp 3 (1) sft.
Guarantee 10-3 (9-1) Took keen hold, in touch in 5th, not much room and bumped 4f out, not clear run over 2f out, driven in 4th and still plenty to do over 1f out, went 2nd final 100 yards, stayed on to lead close home, won at Newbury 1m 4f mdn stks (5) gs beating Harlestone Wood (9-1) by nk, 12 ran.
Inthar (USA) 5-1 (9-5) Close up, ridden and no impression 2f out until kept on towards finish, not trouble leaders, 4th of 7, 5l behind Stature (9-0) at Windsor 1m 2f 3yo hcp 0-90 (3) gf.
Toptempo 9-2 (9-0) Hedl up towards rear, headway over 1f out, soon switched right, stayed on inside final furlong, went 3rd post, 3rd of 13, 2 1/4l behind Pink Damsel (9-0) at Newmarket 1m 4f mdn fll stks (5) gf in May.
Maastricht (IRE) 13-2 (9-1) Tracked leader, lost place after 5f, pushed along over 4f out, soon weakened, eased when tailed off, last of 5, well behind Monshak (9-1) at Chester 1m 6f 3yo hcp 0-95 (3) sft.
