Verdict

Jim Bolger has been very patient with DAWN APPROACH who hasn't seen a racecourse since landing the Coventry Stakes in June. The form of that Ascot victory has worked out very well and this looks within his capabilities. Joseph O'Brien is booked to ride Cristoforo Colombo providing he arrives in time after Doncaster and his mount was travelling ominously well when slipping up in the Phoenix Stakes here last month. He was only a length behind Dawn Approach at Ascot but was then surprisingly beaten by today's rival Probably here when the race appeared to come too soon. He can reverse the form with the winner while stablemate Flying The Flag is no forlorn hope having showed signs of immaturity behind First Cornerstone in the Group 2 Futurity over the C&D. Yet another from the yard, Nevis, easily won a Leopardstown maiden and though this is very much tougher he looks a nice type for the future.

Designs On Rome (IRE) 13-8fav (9-4) Chased leader in 2nd, ridden 2f out, stayed on to press leader 1f out, no extra inside final furlong, kept on same pace, 2nd of 6, 2l behind Sugar Boy (8-11) at Tipperary 7f 2yo hcp hvy in Aug.

Flying The Flag (IRE) 7-4fav (9-3) Chased leader, closed 2f out, challenged under pressure and almost on terms from 1 1/2f out, kept on without matching winner inside final furlong, 2nd of 4, 1 1/2l behind First Cornerstone (9-3) at Curragh 7f 2yo Grp 2 (1) sft in Aug.

Leitir Mor (IRE) 11-1 (9-3) Tracked leaders in 4th, improved into 2nd under 2f out, soon challenged, led under 1f out, kept on well, just held on, won at Curragh 6f 2yo Grp 3 (1) beating Cougar Ridge (9-3) by shd, 11 ran.

Nevis (IRE) 4-6fav (9-5) Soon led and made virtually all, asserted over 1f out and kept on well, comfortably, won at Leopardstown 1m 2yo mdn sft in Jul beating Ralston Road (9-5) by 3l, 10 ran.
