The New York Jets unveiled new acquisition Tim Tebow at a press conference on Monday.
The former Denver Broncos quarterback spoke for 35 minutes on the podium as he took questions from a packed press contingent.
"It's such an honour for me to be here. I'm so excited to be a Jet," he stated following his trade last week.
Tebow was asked about how he saw himself fitting in on his new team and also a possible battle with current incumbent Mark Sanchez to be the starting play-caller.
"I want to be able to help this team any way I can, whatever the role is," he added.
"Every time you put on a uniform you want go go out and play and compete. I want to get better as a quarterback and figure out how I can help this team any way I can."
On the Sanchez situation, he added: "I am excited about being on the same team as Mark. I have a lot of respect for him as a player and a man and we are going to have a lot of fun together."
Tebow was also quick to pay tribute to his previous employers.
"I would like to thank my Broncos team-mates and the Broncos fans. I had a great time in Denver."
