Great Britain's men's water polo team face a difficult task just to progress beyond the group stage of the London 2012 Olympic Games after being drawn alongside the three teams who occupied the podium places four years ago.

They have been drawn against Hungary, Olympic champions three times in a row, plus Beijing silver and bronze medallists the United States and Serbia. Their group also includes Montenegro and Romania.

GB team captain Craig Figes said: "It's a really tough draw. Serbia, Montenegro and Romania were the top three teams at the European Championships this year and Hungary have won the gold at the past three Olympic Games. Throw the USA into the mix and we certainly have a fight on our hands."

The women's team have a slightly easier task facing them, although they must take on an in-form Australia side which has won all the tournaments it has entered this year. Italy and Russia will be their other group opponents.

GB women lost 7-6 to the USA at the Olympic test event today and will now take on Hungary in a bronze medal play-off.
