Surbiton forward Matt Daly has been handed one final chance to win a place at this summer's Olympics after being named in Great Britain's squad for the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup in Malaysia.
The 28-year-old, who has an impressive strike rate of 57 goals in 142 international appearances, has not played competitively for six months because of a knee injury.
Coach Jason Lee wanted to give Daly every chance of making the final cut for this summer's Games and his inclusion for GB's last tournament before the Olympics gives him the opportunity to prove his fitness.
"It is great that Matt is back playing and potentially available for Olympic selection," said Lee.
"Someone with his goalscoring ability and history in international hockey should be very competitive if fit and able to come into form over the next couple of months.
"I'm sure he will be rusty to start with as he has only been back working with a stick and ball for a week after many months out.
"It is likely that the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup will be used to complete the Olympic selection process, although our focus whilst there will be entirely on the team's performance and the attempt to win the tournament."
Captain Barry Middleton returns having been rested for the test event at Olympic Park earlier this month, while Harry Martin and Richard Smith have both been passed fit having undergone treatment for facial injuries sustained during that event.
Great Britain are the top-ranked side in the tournament, starting on May 25, which also includes the hosts, New Zealand, Korea, India, Pakistan and Argentina.
