Michael Laverty: Fastest at Brands Hatch

Michael Laverty posted the fastest time in Friday's practice session ahead of this weekend's seventh round of the British Superbike Championship at Brands Hatch.

The Samsung Honda rider's best lap of 46.234 seconds saw him top the times ahead of Alex Lowes as he looks to consolidate his fourth place in the overall standings.

Lincolnshire rider Lowes closed within 0.074 seconds of Laverty in a tightly fought session on the Indy circuit, in which the leading 21 riders were covered by less than a second.

Australia's Josh Brookes (Tyco Suzuki) was third fastest after setting the pace earlier in the session, with reigning champion Tommy Hill (Swan Yamaha) sixth fastest at his home circuit.
