Opening win for Belfast

20th September 2012, 11:35pm

Reigning champions Belfast defeated Dundee 2-1 in their opening home match of the new Elite League season.

Stars netminder Nic Riopel was in impressive form but was beaten twice by Robby Sandrock, with the defenceman's second powerplay goal of the game proving decisive in the 51st minute.

The Stars had taken the lead in the opening period through skipper AJ Maclean - but Sandrock levelled soon after.
