Castleford's players have issued a public apology for their 12-try humiliation at Hull KR.

The Tigers squad compiled a statement following a players-only meeting today to say sorry to their fans for Sunday's 70-12 defeat at Craven Park, which was their worst-ever in Stobart Super League

The statement, posted on the club's website, said: "We'd like to thank each and every one of our loyal fans who have supported us through thick and thin with their hard-earned money over many years.

"To a man we are embarrassed by our performance yesterday. We understand and share your frustration and disappointment.

"We know it is hard to at this time, though please stick with us and stay positive. We are all working extremely hard to put things right and will do all we can to do you proud on Saturday."

Castleford's next match is a derby with Wakefield on Saturday which will open proceedings at the Magic Weekend in Manchester.
