Hull will be looking to make it third time lucky on Sunday when they take on Huddersfield in the day's only Stobart Super League fixture at the KC Stadium.

Peter Gentle's men lost 22-4 at the Galpharm Stadium on Easter Monday and then crashed out of the Challenge Cup to the same opponents just six days later.

However, those defeats came during an injury crisis which robbed Gentle of the services of nine first-team players, prompting him to bring his assistant coach Lee Radford out of retirement.

Three months on, Hull have a much-changed team and tomorrow will give a first appearance to new signing Liam Watts and a home debut to former New Zealand international Aaron Heremaia.

"We were quite depleted when we played them last time," Gentle said. "We played them a few days after the Easter derby and then again the following week and they were just too strong for us.

"However, we competed well for long periods in those games, as we did against Warrington last week, so we know we can match the best sides in this league.

"We are in better shape physically than we were then, with the likes of Aaron Heremaia, Joe Westerman and Liam Watts now available."

Hull are looking for a first win in four matches against a side which recovered from their own recent dip in form to register a 46-10 victory over London Broncos last Sunday.

"The challenge is for us to back that win up against another good team," said Huddersfield assistant coach Paul Anderson.

"We played them in that short period of time over Easter but it has been a while since then.

"We have made a few changes and so have they. We know that, if we do well, then we give ourselves a good opportunity."

Huddersfield are boosted by the return of Australian back-row forward Luke O'Donnell, who has been out for two month with a torn hamstring.

"We feel we are confident when he is in our environment," Anderson said. "If he gets a run-out at the weekend, then the confidence will run alongside him because I know what a competitor he is."
