Paul Anderson has asked Huddersfield's senior players to choose a new captain for his first game in charge.
The new Giants coach, who has stepped up from his role of assistant following the sacking of Nathan Brown, confirmed that one of his first acts was to take the captain's armband from Widnes-bound Kevin Brown.
The 27-year-old Brown, ruled out of Sunday's home game against Wakefield with an ankle injury, makes his move next season but looks to have played his last game for his current club.
Anderson is expected to make a number of changes to the side beaten 33-6 by Warrington in last Sunday's Challenge Cup semi-final but is relaxed about the choice of a new skipper who will come his newly-elected leadership group of Danny Brough, Eorl Crabtree, David Faiumu, Scott Grix, Luke O'Donnell and Luke Robinson.
He told the Huddersfield Examiner: "The leadership group is my choice but I've left it to them to decide who'll lead out the side this weekend.
"I've told them to go away, think about it and then let me know at training on Saturday. If they can't decide, then I'll decide it for them.
"But whatever happens, it won't be Kev any more. Although there's still a lot to play for this season, I'm also looking at things for next year and those plans obviously don't involve him."
