BIGGAR PRAISE FOR TANDY

Biggar: Hailed the influence of Tandy

Ospreys fly-half Dan Biggar has hailed the impact head coach Steve Tandy has had on the region since taking charge in February.

Former flanker Tandy took the reins at the Liberty Stadium following the departures of director of coaching Scott Johnson and coach Sean Holley, and has gone on to guide the Ospreys to a place in the RaboDirect Pro12 final.

Last Friday's stunning 45-10 semi-final success over defending champions Munster ranked as one of the finest performances since the region's inception in 2003, and Biggar puts the side's renewed confidence down to Tandy's approach.

He said: "Steve has been a breath of fresh air, he has given the boys more of a licence to express themselves, to go out and try things.

"It's been great, we know exactly where we are going and for us to go out with that confidence and belief is great.

"Wales' Grand Slam probably helped us too, the boys came back in great spirits and deserve credit for knuckling down and playing with smiles on their faces.

"It's a great place to come into work."

But Biggar, who was named in the Wales squad for the summer fixtures against the Barbarians and Australia on Monday, says the Ospreys cannot afford to relax as they prepare to face Heineken Cup finalists Leinster in the title showdown in Dublin on May 27.

"The win over Munster was one of the best Ospreys performances I have been involved in, it was as good a team performance as we have produced," he added.

"But we don't get anything for winning a semi-final, we have to make sure we don't relax, the final is the game you are judged on."
