Great Britain's Fed Cup stars will not have to face world number one Victoria Azarenka in April's promotion play-offs.

Neither GB nor Azarenka's Belarus team have been seeded for next week's World Group II play-off draw meaning that cannot face each other.

Instead, Judy Murray's side, who successfully came through last week's Europe/Africa Group I matches in Israel, will face France, Switzerland, Sweden or Argentina. The venue for the tie - GB's first at this level since 1993 - will be decided by lot.

The seedings have been based on the ITF's Fed Cup ranking, in which France are the highest-placed team of the play-off qualifiers.

However, even if they have to meet France, Murray and co will not be too fearful for the French have been refusing to pick their top player, world number seven Marion Bartoli, due to a coaching row.

Instead, Pauline Parmentier, ranked below British number one Elena Baltacha at 62nd, led the French in their defeat to the Slovak Repulbic at the weekend.

Wins over Portugal, Netherlands, Israel and Austria in Eilat mean GB will play again on April 21-22 when the winners of the best-of-five tie will progress to World Group II in 2013 - the second tier of the global women's team competition.

Whoever they are pitted against in the draw, the British players who performed so admirably in Israel are confident of sealing their place in World Group II for next season.

Baltacha, who won all four matches she played last week, said: "This group of players is really special and I think we really deserve this success. I do genuinely feel it's onwards and upwards for us now which is a very exciting prospect."

Heather Watson added: "We can't wait for the play-offs now. We're going to do everything we can to get promoted."

Like Baltacha, Watson went unbeaten in Eilat, teaming up with Laura Robson for three doubles victories.

Robson reserved particular praise for new captain Murray, who started her reign as skipper in the most successful way possible.

Robson said: "I've loved spending the week with my team and of course our captain, Judy, who has made such a difference, that I'm really looking forward to the play-offs where hopefully we'll do it all again."

The draw will take place on February 14 in London at 1200 GMT.
