David Ferrer: A straight-sets winner in Buenos Aires

It was a largely untroubled day for the seeds at the Copa Claro in Buenos Aires as David Ferrer, Kei Nishikori and Stanislas Wawrinka all progressed.

Top seed Ferrer needed only 77 minutes to overcome Facundo Bagnis 6-3 6-4.

The Spaniard broke serve four times as he progressed comfortably into the quarter-finals despite dropping his own serve twice in the first set.

He will face wild-card Fernando Gonzalez, who was a 7-6 (8-6) 7-6 (7-5) winner over Albert Ramos.

Nishikori and Wawrinka will meet in the last eight after both prevailed in three-set encounters today.

Japan's Nishikori, seeded fourth, dropped the first set to Victor Hanescu but responded to win 3-6 7-5 6-1, while sixth seed Wawrinka beat Benoit Paire 6-3 5-7 6-2.
