Rafael Nadal eased into the semi-finals of the Barcelona Open with a straight-sets win over fifth-seed Janko Tipsarevic.
The top seed and defending champion broke his Serbian opponent five times on his way to a 6-2 6-2 victory in just under 90 minutes.
Nadal's next opponent will be Spanish compatriot and ninth seed Fernando Verdasco, who was leading Kei Nishikori 4-2 in the opening set when the Japanese player retired with an abdominal injury.
Andy Murray's conqueror Milos Raonic will now face Spanish third seed David Ferrer, who battled through to the last four with a 6-7 (4/7) 7-6 (9/7) 6-3 victory over Feliciano Lopez.
Ferrer saved three match points in the second set before prevailing in the decider.
