Julia Goerges: Defeat in the first round
Top seed Julia Goerges crashed out of the Gastein Ladies in Austria at the first hurdle, losing to Dutch qualifier Richel Hogenkamp.
In a match that suffered four hours of interruptions due to rain, Goerges went down 3-6 6-3 6-3.
Rain played a major role in a shortened day's play in Bad Gastein. Before the weather brought about an early conclusion, second-seeded Yanina Wickmayer cruised past Mariana Duque-Marino 6-3 6-4
Seventh-seeded Alize Cornet topped Edina Gallovits-Hall 7-5 7-5 to progress, and number four Carla Suarez-Navarro beat Marta Domachowska 6-4 7-5.
There were also wins for Estrella Cabeza Candela, Sacha Jones, Sarah Gronert and Mandy Minella.
