Just one match was completed at the AEGON Classic on Friday as rain struck the WTA tournament at Edgbaston again.
Japan's Misaki Doi wrapped up a 6-4 7-5 win over Stephanie Foretz-Gacon to complete the quarter-final line-up. That match had been suspended midway through the second set on Thursday.
Zheng Jie and Roberta Vinci began their quarter-final but will have to return on Saturday.
World number 32 Zheng was leading 6-3 5-6 in the first match on Centre Court when play was suspended for the day following a series of heavy showers.
Zheng had served for the match at 5-4 in the second set.
The 21-year-old Doi will play her first ever WTA quarter-final against former world number one Jelena Jankovic, who is looking for her first title since 2010.
Doi and Jankovic will be on Centre Court following the completion of the Vinci-Zheng match on what could be a very busy Saturday, featuring both the quarter-finals and semi-finals.
The all-American quarter-final between Melanie Oudin and Irina Falconi opens play on Court Three at 1100 BST when Ekaterina Makarova plays Su-Wei Hsieh on Court Four.
The semi-finals are scheduled for Centre Court later in the day.
