Reigning champion Marion Bartoli moved into the semi-finals of the AEGON International at Eastbourne with a 6-4 6-2 victory over Czech seventh seed Lucie Safarova on Thursday.
Fourth seed Bartoli took 73 minutes to complete her victory, breaking twice in an opening set in which she struggled to hold serve herself, and twice again in the second in which she faced no break points.
Bartoli will play Austrian Tamira Paszek in the last four after the world number 40 pulled off a slightly surprising 6-0 6-4 win over Bulgaria's former Wimbledon semi-finalist Tsvetana Pironkova.
German ninth seed Angelique Kerber beat 2010 champion Elena Makarova of Russia 6-2 6-4 and will play Klara Zakopalova after the Czech beat Russia's Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova 6-3 7-5.
The men's quarter-finals were all postponed until Friday after rain washed out Thursday's remaining matches.
