Tommy Haas: Dropped just five games

Tommy Haas: Dropped just five games

Tommy Haas' resurgence continued as the wild card dispatched seventh seed Florian Mayer 6-1 6-4 at the German Tennis Championships in Hamburg.

The 34-year-old Haas has never lost to his fellow German in four meetings, and saved all three break points to keep that perfect record going.

Haas has moved up to 49th in the world rankings this year after starting outside the top 100.

The top seeds in action both advanced to the semi-finals, with number one Nicolas Almagro made to work to see off Philipp Kohlschreiber 7-5 7-5, while fourth seed Marin Cilic triumphed 6-4 7-6 (7/5) against Albert Ramos.

Juan Monaco is through to his fifth semi-final of the season after beating Jeremy Chardy 6-3 7-5.
