Julia Cohen moved a step closer to claiming her maiden WTA title after reaching the final of the Baku Cup with a battling semi-final victory over Russian Olga Puchkova.
The 23-year-old American, the world number 134, lost the first set but recovered to claim a 3-6 6-0 6-3 victory in a match that lasted over two and a half hours.
Cohen will now face fifth seed Bojana Jovanovski of Serbia, who made it a bad day for Russian hopes as she defeated second seed Alexandra Panova 6-2 6-2.
Like Cohen, Jovanovski will also be playing her first WTA final.
